Brumal white and bitter whiff,
Nearly hid the frozen cliff
Watch ye step, ye dare not blunder,
Dreadful plunge to far down under
Keep ye swift,
But sturdy, still,
Think I'm getting awful ill
Now begins the snow to fall,
Now I hardly see at all
Faint by feet and foggy view,
A glimpse of black from bleary blue:
"Kaw!" said he,
Though far and dim,
He'd come to perch a nearby limb
Swift was he on artful wings,
Look ye here, This bird, he sings!
Soon enough I stared, entranced,
By the way the Raven danced
But after him came many more,
Until I realized what I bore:
Heaps of flesh; wounded prey!
Ravens blocked my every way
Frantic dash in each direction,
Only worsened this attraction
Soon came Wolves, so famished, sly,
I'm now convinced I'll surely die
Their circle round me closing in,
The leap of doom would soon begin
The leading Wolf called the attack,
And everything went sharply black.
